Hello! Well I've just finished my third, and final (for now!) run of Greenfinch, at the wonderfully atmospheric, warm and welcoming Bom-Bane's Cafe in Brighton.
It was an absolute joy to share it with two such packed and attentive rooms. An absolute joy.
I hope it touched and moved you; and if you are struggling in any way I hope it helped light up a possible way out. No matter how bad things get, there is always joy and some sort of resolution to be found somewhere.
Greenfinch is going back in the box for a while while I try and work out what I want to do next - probably something a bit funnier. I imagine it will come out again sometime, and I have a few ideas and plans of different things I could do with it. More to come!
I couldn't have done this without a few people:
My incredible director Laura Mugridge
My wonderfully supportive partner, actor and writer Lia Burge
Kate Daisy Grant and Paul Macauley, who provided the voice overs for the show.
Finally... I often use music to transport me to the place I need to go to write certain things. Below is a list of some of the songs that played around my head whilst writing Greenfinch. Most of them made it into the playlist that was playing as people came into the venue.
'Emperor of the Moon / Ormond House' · Les Musiciens de Saint-Julien · François Lazarevitc 'Chimes' - North Sea Radio Orchestra 'In Winter's House' - Joanna Marsh, arr. by Julian Azkoul, performed by United Strings of Europe 'Guitar Miniature' - North Sea Radio Orchestra 'Love No More' - Durutti Column 'Mini Suite II.' - Mandel (Emily Hall & Misha Law)
Goodbye! See you again soon on a stage somewhere.
